Welcome everyone to the Free Marine Interiors Forum between Europe and China. I am Pan Hua, chief representative of Hamburg Liaison Office China
I want to first give special thanks to Bob Li from International Ship & Offshore Media and Hamburg Messe Gesellschaft for organizing this workshop and to the industry experts who will be speaking later at the different panels.
This event is in itself an acknowledgement and celebration of the growing Chinese market in the industry of cruise and ferry construction. China is a high potential market with growing consumer interest in cruise and ferry entertainment, which will likely fuel market growth well into the future. European companies are long standing industry leaders in the shipbuilding industry, with deep insights into every aspect of the supply chain. It is thus especially exciting to see this workshop featured in the first-ever Marines Interior Expo, highlighting the importance of the emerging Chinese market and the potential for future cooperation between Europe and China to mutually benefit from this major growth. In addition, the international backdrop of worsening trade tension between China and the United States is presenting unique opportunities for Europe and China to together leverage the different expertise and market advantage of each party and achieve better collaboration.
Keeping in line with the broader theme of the expo of connecting key players in the cruise industry across the globe, this workshop focuses on exploring how Chinese and European players can work together to create a win-win scenario in the cruise industry in China.
This workshop is designed to enhance cooperation and bring together players in different parts of the supply chain in China and Europe. It will cover four topics intended to promote discussion among top industry players in both countries, featuring industry experts to deliver their insights on each topic. Together, we will look at the benefits of global cooperation for engineering, procurement, and construction of cruise vessels, learn about the shipping maintenance and repairs supply chain in China, get briefed on Chinese shipbuilders for cruise & ropax ferries, and experience how China cruise & shipbuilding industry can cooperate with its European counterparts. Finally, we will close out with a free discussion session open to the floor to address any outstanding questions.
We hope everyone attending the workshop today will be able to not only take away the insights shared by our industry speakers, but also get an opportunity to network with key players in the cruise and ferry industry across the entire supply chain. Now I’d like to introduce our first speaker, the ceo of VDMA, Mr. Schlegel. Welcome to the stage.
Opening speech by Ms. Pan Hua of HLO China
